Innovation Never Rests!
We here at TARP Central have been accused of being obsessed with the TARP Special. We really can’t object — it’s true. These idle hands have once again found something to do with the car. Watching various ALMS and Grand Am races over the past couple of months, we see that all the big boy race cars have absurd aero packages. Those always include ridiculous wings, outrageous front air dam/splitter packages, and of course, ground hugging side skirts.
Seeing as none of that will likely improve the performance of the TARP Special (and seeing as pure performance is barely related to winning LeMons races), we decided to engage in a series of ridiculous and unnecessary aero modifications to the car. Given the budgetary limitations imposed by the LeMons series, these modifications are best made with found materials.
Thus I give you the garden-edging-found-by-the-road side skirt package, guaranteed to help keep that low pressure air under the car during the race and the car glued to the road in those sweeping turns at MSR-Houston that we’ll see in the late October race:
Doesn’t this remind you of those Mustangs in the Trans-Am series of old? No? Well, maybe not. But at least it’s good for a laugh.
