Work Progresses on TARP Car

March 2nd, 2010

So I guess I haven’t posted much lately and I didn’t really realize it until I posted about Infineon the other day.

I’ve been working sporadically on cleaning up the new/used engine that will go in the car. I’m hoping to have it done sometime around late March or early April. What with the new baby on the way, car work time is going to be pretty lean for awhile, but that’s okay. There’s not a ton of other stuff that needs to be done on the car to get it ready for the June race at Eagles Canyon. I got a free aluminum radiator from a midget car guy so I might install that just to get some better engine cooling (if June is hot, that could be useful). We need to replace the driver’s side rear axle carrier/hub because we think it’s pretty crapped out from the hit it took when Dave was driving the car last February. There might be some other odds and ends here or there (like on Saturday, I was able to take advantage of having the engine out of the car to remove the fuel filler neck and removed the flappy obstruction, which should make our fuel filling duties easier during pit stops), some maintenance-y issues (like new brake fluid and maybe upgraded pads since Eagles Canyon tends to be hard on brakes), but nothing too major.

In the meantime, if you have a theme change idea, pass it along. I’d love to have a fun new theme for the race. Cheers.
